Every morning, I get up, get dressed, brush my teeth and head out the door. As I step outside, goose bumps rise along my arms as the cold air brushes my skin. I then run inside, grab a jacket, and head on my way. As I step outside after a long day of school, later that afternoon, a heat wave passes me. It is literally 90º. Why is the weather so two-faced? One answer. Fall.
Not only is fall’s weather unpredictable, but also, the whole season symbolizes death. Think about it, leaves are dying and falling to the ground. To make matters worse, after they have plummeted to the ground, they get trampled on. I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t want to witness (or ever experience) these poor leaves’ fate.
One last horrible thing this season brings out, is the basics. The basics take over everything. Instagram, Twitter, even Snapchat. I can definitely be basic don’t get me wrong, but I certainly don’t post a picture of my Pumpkin Spice Latte no matter how delicious it is. All I’m trying to say is that I get it; pumpkins are pretty, and yes, your picture is “so fall”. However, not everyone wants to see nor hear about your mystical journey to Starbucks.
The next time you think about fall, don’t remember the colorful leaves and cozy sweaters. Instead, think about the reality of it all, crappy weather, death is everywhere, and the basics are out of control.
