Bye-Bye Birdy

Every year some odd weeks after break, the winter musical comes around like clock work. For some people, like this year’s cast of 60 people, this means early mornings and late nights. For others it (shout out to the techies), it means paint stains on the butt of your pants and all black attire. For Mr. Linn and Mr. Woolery it means attempting to get their performers on task, which is almost like herding cats. But for most people, it means being completely oblivious to the work and effort being put in by the teachers and students involved in the musical.

This year’s musical will be Bye-Bye Birdie. Personally, I’ve heard the name, but I wasn’t familiar with the story. And basically, it’s a mockery of love stories and pop singers. So why would you not want to go? It’s a comedy.

When asked why parents and students should attend, Mr. Woolery commented “If you’re interested in a nostalgic look at the 1950’s, come to the musical. We have very talented first timers to the cast, and it’s really great to watch their talents emerge.”

The musical will be held in the Ames High auditorium February 5th, 6th, and 7th. Hope to see you there.
