In the midst of spooky season, I, like many Americans, have indulged in the delightful treats offered during this month. While enjoying my fair share of different candies, I decided to look at what other people gravitate towards when picking out a candy during Halloween. In this process, I had to look at many candy lists, where up to 10 candies were ranked in order of taste, texture, and overall delight. However, upon reviewing many of these lists, I realized something: they are not compiled of the ultimate best candies. The candy is ranked in nonsensical orders, with candies I have never even heard of topped way further up the list than classics like KitKats or Sour Patch kids, which would never truly happen. In addition to that, some lists were made up entirely of only chocolate products, whilst others were created with only sour treats in mind. So, I took it upon myself to compile the ultimate list of candy, complete with sour, sweet, chocolate, and fruity delights, for your enjoyment. Number 10: Airheads
While I consistently forget about this candy, every time I taste one, it is an explosion of delicious sugar in my mouth. With many different flavors to choose from (even mystery! What a surprise) there is a flavor for everyone out there. However, this is subject to being at the bottom purely because of the fact that is incredibly stick and I find the sugar feeling lasts on my teeth all day after I eat one, which, in my research, I have discovered to be a common problem amongst candy connoisseurs.
Number 9: Twizzlers
When it comes to fruit-flavored candies, Twizzlers are the perfect delight. Although the flavor is sometimes described as not strong enough, I find this candy to be the perfect amount of sweet, But I can understand why it’s not enough flavor for everyone.
Number 8: Snickers
It can’t be a ranking list without this classic treat. Crunchy peanuts, yummy chocolate, and thick nougat combined to create a sweet paradise. However, I find that sometimes they are too crunchy, which is why they are so low on the list.
Number 7: Milky Way
Creamy caramel wrapped in soft chocolate, what’s not to love? But seriously, this candy is wonderful for those out there who cannot resist a caramel treat.
Number 6: Sour Patch Kids
Coming in at the direct middle of this list is an understandable favorite for the sour enjoyers out there. These tiny but mighty gummies pack a sweet punch and honestly, I could eat a whole bag of them if I had enough time to do so.
Number 5: Kitkat
Don’t limit yourself to eating these just during Halloween. This pair of perfection is the perfect crunchy chocolate treat for any time of the year. Coming in at a strong number 5 based on the fact that there are just way too many wonderful candies out there, and while I wish they could all be number 1, now is the time to be decisive.
Number 4: Twix
Although these are my personal all-time favorites, also sold in pairs of two, I can understand why sometimes you just don’t want to share, which is why these aren’t higher. Although my advice for this is to just eat both, I can see why some people want more room to endulge in other types of treats which is why I had to put this wonderful treat lower than I would have liked.
Number 3: Skittles
These fruity delights are number 3 for many reasons, but as a former allergy kid these have been a halloween staple in my household for years due to the very few ingredients and the explosion of flavor. Tropical, sour, berry, regular, and even zombie skittles are guaranteed to keep you wanting more and more.
Number 2: Hershey’s
While this may seem generic, I think we can all agree that hershey bars, in their many forms, are incredibly irresistible and delightful in all forms. Wether you enjoy dark chocolate, milk chocolate, cookies and creme, or even hersheys with almonds, this candy is sure to satisfy your cravings this season.
And finally, without further ado, the number one most ranked candy: Reeses Peanut Butter Cups
In every single list I looked at, Reeses were consistently ranked at number 1, and I can definitely see why. These wonderful treats include it all: creamy peanut butter, soft chocolate, and the perfect size to enjoy without feeling guilty in one irresistible cup of delight. Not only are they heavenly, but their seasonal offerings play into their customers, making Reese’s a classic treat across many holidays.
