I-Bull= Let’s Go!

One of the many privileges students at AHS have is the ability to partake in one of many intramural sports that the school has to offer. For most, this is an excellent opportunity for students to show off talent without having to devote the time and energy to the ever-so competitive world of varsity sports. Though the selection of intramural sports to choose from at AHS is high, there are a few sports that have yet to be introduced. I-Bull, or intramural bullfighting is one of these sports. To my understanding, the only reason bullfighting hasn’t gone intramural is that most people don’t even know what the sport entails and are under the delusion that it is somehow dangerous and inhumane. Well, to them I say: “What’s so dangerous and inhumane about two men dressed up as bulls, running around in an arena, and then running into each other for like ten minutes?” Not only is that safe, it’s also quite a bit of fun. Now, we all know that if something is fun and safe, that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a good idea. Things do cost money. However, bed sheets at Target are only $20, and bike helmets are roughly the same price as bed sheets. That’s only $40 per bullfighter, because let’s be honest, all you need is a bed sheet and a helmet to look like a bull. $40 is a small price to pay, for people having the most fun they’ve had since the Jazz Age. Let’s go back to the issue of space. Most bullfighting matches are held in arenas or whatever else is available. A football stadium is available to us. A basketball court is available to us. Heck, even a swimming pool is available to us. Three venues are available and could be used as the destination for Ames High Intramural Bullfighting. Therefore, the space argument is completely invalid. There is no logical argument against the intramuralization of bullfighting. Thus, somebody needs to step up and do it. The students of Ames High need bullfighting, but not as much as bullfighting needs the students of Ames High. It is a match made in heaven. It is a romance like one that could be found in Paris. It is inevitable: I-Bull= let’s go!
