Why You Should Vote

1. Democracy only works if citizens are active participants in the election process. Otherwise, the government isn’t representative of the people. Sure, our system could be more democratic, but voting is the best thing you can do right now. 2. Wars have been fought and people have died for your right to vote. It’s only right for you to honor them. 3.If you don’t vote, you can’t complain about what government decides to do. We all know we like to complain. 4. It is mostly the people’s responsibility to keep our officials responsible for what they say and do. We re-elect incumbent politicians if they have kept their promises to the people (provided that they were in a position to follow through on their promises). 5. King has only authored one bill the entire year he has been in office. This is relatively a very low output. “Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country.” Franklin D. Roosevelt
