Introducing one of the newest additions to Ames High School, Kenneth Damron. Joining forces with Associate Principal Patton to tackle the journey of being part of the Ames High administration, Damron gives a fresh face to the Associate Principal role.

Damron attended Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. During his time there, he studied Communications Art and Literature Art. These areas, he explains, are fancy titles for saying he “majored in English teaching.”

The 2021-22 school year is Damron’s fourth year of serving in secondary administration. He spent nearly 3 ½ years at Bingham High School in South Jordan, Utah, as an Assistant Principal. Before that, he was an Associate Principal at Granite Park Jr. High in South Salt Lake. Him, his wife of 5 years, and his two young sons, decided to make the move to central Iowa so his wife could be closer to her family. They were looking to relocate near Des Moines for a while, so when the Associate Principal position opened at Ames High, it was too good of an opportunity for him to pass up.  “I was always impressed with the reputation that Ames High School had in the state of Iowa,” Damron said.

When asked what Damron’s goals are for Ames High, he said, “My goals for Ames High are to continue the excellent tradition of student achievement at Ames High School. […] We need to continue to grow and expand the opportunities for all our students.” Damron plans on expanding his relationship with the student body throughout the year to get to know how Ames High functions. To do this, he plans on attending various student activities and club meetings. Damron is compelled to see all the new opportunities it allows for with students, teachers, and the overall stamina of Ames High.
