Welcome Ms. Whitehead
As we get deeper into the school year, we walk down the same hallways and see the same faces over and over. However, you may have noticed a brand new face as you were walking down the newly named âNorthern Iowaâ hallway. Ames High welcomed Emily Whitehead into the social studies department this year. A native of Urbandale, Iowa, Whitehead is happy to be a part of the Ames community. âI think [Ames] is great,â said Whitehead. âAll the kids are great.â This year, Whitehead is teaching Western Civilization 1, Western Civilization 2, and World Studies. Formerly a teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Whitehead attended both Iowa State and Drake as part of her college career. She has only lived here in Ames since August 3. Growing up close to here, however, she knows a lot about our community and its reputation. Whitehead hopes to bring excitement and fun into the classroom, and so far she has really enjoyed her time here at Ames High. Letâs welcome her into our school and make her a part of our wonderful community. âAmes is a great school,â said Whitehead. âI am really excited to be here.â
